SAMPLE WEB SITES

• DW'S BAR EXAM SERVICES -- This is a web site I developed for a Lawyer that teaches bar prep courses.
• DW'S BANKRUPTCY -- A very simple web site. I am concentrating my search engine optimization skills with this site. I posted the site in March, and I will track its listing positions in the coming months.
• SILVERSMART JEWELERY -- This is a web site I developed for a retail store that sells jewelry. I used the PlainCart tutorial to build the shopping cart. I made major modifications to the original source code. I think the result is very nice. The payment gateway is not live, but the api to the testing site (sandbox) works fine.
• VIETNAM PICTURE ALBUM -- I used Google’s Picasa software to create a photo album. I modified the HTML output from Picasa to personally tailor the photo album.
• THINH STUDIOS -- This is a web site I am developing for a very talented Vietnamese artist. I wrote a windows utility in C# for resizing images and adding a watermark. You can download this utility by clicking here.

• Reflection: C#.NET has the ability of reflection which allows the application to access the attributes of an object by name much like Java Script getElementById() method.

FLASH

• Tower of Hanoi -- This is an animation of a classic puzzle.
• Saigon Movie -- I captured this movie on a digital camera while in Saigon and converted it to a flash movie.
• Card Game -- This is my first attempt at a card game. I implemented the Free Cell card game because it looked the easiest. It was quite difficult, but I learned a lot about actionscript.
• flash.js -- This script will load a .swf file in IE 7 without having to click on the object to activate it. I find it has the added advantage of not having to write a lot of HTML code for imbedding Flash video.

PHOTOSHOP

• Image Masking -- Image masking is a very basic process in Photoshop or Paint.NET.

  

• CSS Layout -- Moving to Standards-Compliant HTML and CSS means doing away with tables for page design. This is problematic because of the variation in how different browsers interpret CSS. I am still working on this and trying to sort it all out.

PHP/MySql

Image Gallery -- This is a image gallery application I am working on. It allows upload of zipped image folders.

My webhost is configured to allow uploads of 20M maximum. I thought of ways to get around this, but I realized that the better solution is to resize the images before uploading. I wrote a Windows Application so that I can resize several images at once. The images can then be zipped and uploaded.

JAVASCRIPT/AJAX

I do most of my scripting server-side. The client-side Java Script used for this site is pretty simple. With Ajax, you can mix server-side and client-side scripts. In this example I wanted to do an AJAX request for a slide show from thinhstudios.com. However, an AJAX request cannot be made to a remote server. Therefore, I make an AJAX request to a local php script which in turn makes a curl request to get the slide show content from the remote server.
